Kylemore Abbey’s Connemara ponies, Ruby and her foal Pippa, have arrived at Áras an Uachtaráin, where they will spend the summer grazing on the front lawn of President Catherine Connolly’s official residence in the Phoenix Park.

The pair, affectionately known as Kylemore Abbey’s “Peaceful Ponies”, will welcome visitors and international dignitaries throughout the summer.

The Connemara Pony, bred in the west of Ireland, is Ireland’s only native pony breed and is renowned for its temperament, intelligence and versatility.

Their stay at Áras an Uachtaráin celebrates the Connemara Pony as an enduring symbol of Ireland’s natural and cultural heritage.

Kylemore Abbey CEO Conor Coyne said the visit is “a lovely celebration of the heritage and culture of the west of Ireland”, adding that the breed inspires “pride and enthusiasm” among people across the country.
