Priyanka Chopra bvlgari mumbai

In a dazzling fusion of cinematic glamour and high art, Mumbai’s Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) played host to a landmark cultural event: the Indian debut of the Bvlgari Serpenti Infinito exhibition. Front and centre at the grand opening was none other than global icon and Bvlgari brand ambassador, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who embodied the very essence of the luxury maison with a look that was both powerful and poetic.

A Vision in Burgundy

For the occasion, Chopra Jonas chose a gown that was a work of art in itself. Dressed in a glistening, sparkly burgundy creation from the Australian label Maticevski, the actress and producer was a vision of modern elegance. Founded by Toni Matičevski in 1999 with a mission to merge sculpture and fashion, the brand’s ethos was perfectly realised in her ensemble.

The dress masterfully balanced softness and structure, featuring a pointed strapless bodice and a flowy midi skirt adorned with angular ruffled panels that subtly echoed the lines of a basque waist. But the true synergy between star and brand was revealed in her jewellery. A magnificent Serpenti necklace fell harmoniously into the space created by the gown’s neckline, while a matching Serpenti bracelet adorned her wrist. Completing the meticulously crafted look, she painted her nails in the exact shade of the dress, grounding the ethereal ensemble with simple, strappy black heels.

Where Roman Heritage Meets Indian Artistry

More than just a glittering soirée, the opening marked the beginning of a profound cultural dialogue. The Bvlgari Serpenti Infinito exhibition, which runs from October 2 to 17, is curated as an ode to “the artistry that transcends borders.” Following successful editions in Shanghai and Seoul, its Mumbai debut is a significant homecoming, marrying Bvlgari’s iconic Roman heritage with the rich, vibrant traditions of India.

Since its inception in 1948 with the first Serpenti jewellery watches, the serpent motif has been a leitmotif for the brand, symbolising eternal transformation and rebirth. This exhibition delves deep into that legacy. Curated by Peter Nagy and Aparajita Jain of Nature Morte, and guided by artistic director Sean Anderson, it features over 75 works by 23 acclaimed Indian and international artists, including Bharti Kher, Baua Devi, and Alicja Kwade.

The showcase is a multi-sensory journey, spanning painting, sculpture, and digital media. A highlight is renowned media artist Refik Anadol’s *Infinito: AI Data Sculpture*—a large-scale, AI-powered installation set within a 360-degree mirrored room, creating an immersive, timeless experience. Alongside these contemporary interpretations, the exhibition offers a rare glimpse into Bvlgari’s history, displaying archival sketches, early Serpenti Tubogas watches from the 1960s, and exquisite pieces from its haute joaillerie and heritage collections.

A Celebration of Shared Legacy

The sentiment of the evening was one of celebration and collaboration. Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bvlgari, stated, “For Bvlgari, India has always been a profound source of inspiration. This exhibition is a celebration of the dialogue between our timeless Roman roots and India’s vibrant artistic traditions.”

For Priyanka Chopra Jonas, the event held deep personal significance. “India is and will always be home, so seeing Serpenti Infinito come here for the first time feels incredibly special,” she expressed. “This exhibition is a beautiful tribute to transformation, heritage, and artistic expression.”

Isha Ambani, Director at Reliance Industries, echoed this, highlighting the NMACC’s vision: “Hosting Bvlgari’s Serpenti Infinito in India is an opportunity to celebrate a shared legacy of art, culture, and creative excellence. This collaboration is the first of its kind and marks a meaningful dialogue between India and Bvlgari.”

From the sleek Serpenti designs of the 1960s to unreleased high jewellery inspired by India’s heritage, the Serpenti Infinito exhibition is more than a display of luxury; it is a testament to the enduring power of creativity that knows no borders, perfectly encapsulated by the shining presence of its ambassador, Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
