Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of a 65-year-old man who they fear has come to serious harm.
The older man has been missing from his home in Dublin 8 for the last five weeks.
His family appealed for information on his whereabouts on social media before reporting him missing to gardaí at Kevin Street on Sunday.
They said they were very concerned about him and had checked hospitals and garda stations.
They said he is the father of a number of children and his brothers, sisters and extended family are very worried about him.
Gardaí commenced a criminal investigation and today they arrested a man in his 20s.
The man, who is believed to be of eastern European origin, is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
