A 10-year-old girl who was left in a critical condition following a road crash involving a car and a flatbed van in Co Cavan last Friday night has died in hospital.
The collision occurred just after 4.30pm on the R162 at Corclare, Shercock.
The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s who was also the girl’s mother, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The girl, who was a passenger in the car, was airlifted to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin in a critical condition, where she died this afternoon.
Gardaí have renewed their appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Any road users who were travelling in the area between 4.15pm and 5pm last Friday and who may have camera footage are asked to make it available to gardaí.
