‘The whole vibe of the place is going to be unbelievable’

The brothers behind a popular sandwich business are getting ready to open their new deli café in Cork. Felix and Alex Castaldo, who run Tongue Tied, have teased the opening of a new spot just outside the city centre.
The lads from Grange saw huge success with their Black Market stall and pop-up kitchen at the O’Sho bar on Barrack Street, and now they’re ready to take the sambo-and-hot-sauce biz to new heights.

They’ve shared a sneak peek of doing up their new location on Ballinlough Road. The former Happy Days Deli has had a signature ‘Tongue Tied yellow’ paint job in preparation for the opening.
Taking to Instagram to share the exciting news, Alex appeared in a video confirming: “The rumours are true, me and my brother are opening up our very own place in Cork City and we are buzzing for it.”
He said: “The location is class, we feel, and the whole vibe of the place is going to be unbelievable.”

The Castaldo brothers’ father is Italian, which had a big influence on their love of good food and all things spicy. The duo rose to popularity in 2023 after they started selling their signature hot sauces at the Marina Market. The following year, they opened a stall at the Black Market to huge acclaim.
Signature sandwiches include the Chicken Parm and Bada Bing, which was hailed the “best sandwich in Cork” by famous foodie influencer Matthew Binge, who runs the FoodReviewClub social media pages.
They’ve since wrapped up the Black Market stall, so customers will be very excited to get into the new spot to get their fill of top-notch sambos.
