A single white rose sat on Grafton Street, just by a small archway beside the Disney shop.
It was laid by Bruno Vogl, a German man who arrived in Dublin with his father this morning.
Mr Vogl loves the film Once, and he and his father had planned to visit locations that featured in it.

He said this particular spot on Grafton Street was on his list because it was where the movie opens – with Glen Hansard singing ‘And the Healing Has Begun’.
“I watched the movie in preparation with my Dad for the trip,” he said.
“Glen meant a lot to me, I saw him in my hometown in Dresden in Germany in 2016, and when I was younger, about 15 years old, I watched Once and that movie really inspired me to pick up busking myself.
“It’s such a weird feeling, being in Dublin for the second time, and on my first day [of this trip] I get the news and I just felt that I had to come here and pay my respects,” he said.

Andrew Glover and Andrew Kavanagh of the band Keywest have spent many years playing on Dublin’s streets.
Mr Glover said the entire community is “tore up” at the news.
“He started as a street performer, and he made it all the way to the top. But he never forgot his roots and that’s something we can all aspire to. He was such a role model to every musician, especially in Ireland and especially in Dublin.
“I think of the Christmas busk that he was such a big part of, and how they went from strength to strength under his guidance, it’s going to have a different feel this year for sure,” he said.

Mr Kavanagh said: “I’m always going to think of him as a street performer and what he did for Grafton St in terms of world-scale with his songs and with the movie Once.
“He’s such a raw Dublin lad, and he’s from our neck of the woods as well, so I’ll always think of him as that really down-to-earth Dublin lad with buckets of talent.
“I’m thinking a lot of the buskers that know him really well, there’s a couple in particular I know who will be very upset and I haven’t seen them yet but they’ll definitely be inconsolable with this as they work with Glen regularly.
“I’m thinking of his wife and young son too, such a young family.”
Over by the International Bar, Brian Walton described the news as an “absolute tragedy” adding that Mr Hansard was a “fantastic musician and a beautiful man”.
“He’ll be sorely missed and remembered forever,” he said.
