Markéta Irglová has offered her condolences to the family of her friend, former partner, and Swell Season bandmate Glen Hansard, saying her heart goes out to them following his death.
In a post on Instagram, the Czech-Icelandic musician wrote: “My deepest condolences to Glen’s family, his brothers and his beautiful wife and son, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
“I am so sorry for your tragic loss, my heart goes out to you.
“May his love always surround you, his spirit guide and protect you, and may his light shine on throughout your days.”
She concluded:
“The Lord bless you
and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”
Irglová and Hansard won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for the ballad Falling Slowly from the film Once in February 2008.
As The Swell Season, they recorded three albums together, the most recent of which, Falling Forward, was released in July of last year.
