Shocking scenes of a mass brawl that erupted during an IBO World Super Lightweight title fight at Dublin’s 3Arena have emerged, with two men in their 20s arrested over the incident.

The ugly scenes broke out in one of the upper tiers of the arena as the North Wall Quay venue played host to a night of boxing on Saturday evening, August 1, where Dubliner Pierce O’Leary suffered a 10th round knockout defeat in his IBO World Super Lightweight championship title against England’s Mark Chamberlain.

Video footage shared on social media shows a large group of males involved in the mass brawl with one spectator shouting, ‘Have it out boys, have it out.’

Several men are involved in punching other males on the stairwell in the stand as shocked audience members looked on.

One male is seen kicking another male in the chest before security try to break up the brawl and remove several people from the arena.

A second video shows several members of An Garda Siochana arriving at the scene downstairs in the area. Surrounded by security, two males in their 20s were arrested, gardai have confirmed.

In a statement, An Garda Siochana told the Irish Mirror: “Gardai attended a public order incident on North Wall Quay, Dublin 1 on Saturday, August 1 at approximately 10.20pm.

“Two males aged in their 20s were arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

“They have both since been charged and are due to appear before court on a future date.”

O’Leary was bidding for a 20th straight professional win but Englishman Chamberlain silenced O’Leary fans as the Dubliner crashed to his first professional defeat.
