Officers are appealing for witnesses

Gardaí are investigating after two boys were left injured – and one was hospitalised – following an assault in a Cork city suburb.
The attack occurred shortly after 9.30pm on Ballinure Avenue, Mahon on Friday 31st July. Cork Beo understands that two male teenagers, who are brothers, were approached and assaulted by another two male youths while walking home.
One of the victims, age 17, was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other victim suffered minor injuries but did not need hospital treatment.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact them. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Blackrock Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
A Garda spokesperson told Cork Beo: “Gardaí at Blackrock are investigating an assault on a 17-year-old male that occurred on Ballinure Avenue, Mahon, shortly after 9:30pm on Friday, 31st July 2026. It is understood that the victim was approached and assaulted by two male youths during the incident.
“He was subsequently brought to hospital for medical treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening. Witnesses are asked to contact Blackrock Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.”
