Donegal Gardai have seized two e-scooters from children.
The scooters were taken from two children in the Killea area yesterday.
The scooters were seized as part of the August Bank Holiday Weekend Roads Policing Operation.
A spokesperson warned parent in Donegal that they need to know the law when it comes ot their children and e-scooters.
The spokesperson said “Do not allow your children to use e-scooters under any circumstances. It is against the law and it is also highly dangerous.
“There are specific laws in place regarding the use of electric scooters and e-bikes. Make sure that you are aware of these laws and that you abide by them.”
Under new legislation coming into effect in late August 2026, the minimum legal age to ride an e-scooter in public increases from 16 to 18 years old.
Anyone under 18 is legally prohibited from using them, and selling e-scooters to minors will also become illegal.
