Galway suffered heartbreak in the 2026 All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship Final as despite a late comeback they lost out to Cork by a single point in Sunday’s decider at Croke Park.
Cathal Murray’s side edged a tight first half at GAA HQ, as an impressive first half from Caoimhe Kelly, Carrie Dolan and two points from Niamh Niland had the Westerner’s 0-9 to 0-7 up at half time.
But the two crucial moments in the game came in a seven minute spell as a goal from Saoirse McCarthy put Cork 1-11 to 0-11 ahead. Niamh Niland replied with a point on 45 minutes but from the puck out Orlaith Cahalane got on the end of a dangerous move to stretch the gap to five. Galway would outscore Cork by seven points to three between then and the end, but it wasn’t enough the full time whistle was greeted with jubilant Cork scenes as this year’s Championship ended in heartbreak for Galway.
