West Ham have made Troy Parrott their prime striker target this summer, aiming to wrap up a deal for the player over the coming days.
Mail Sport are reporting that the club have now submitted a bid worth €18million (£15million) for the Irishman.
That is a fairly derisory bid, especially for a player who was one of the highest scorers in European football last season. It has been suggested that AZ Alkmaar would seek a fee of around €30million to sanction his sale this summer.

It was reported last week that West Ham were willing to pay £30million to bring the player to the Championship, although their opening offer has apparently fallen significantly short of that figure.
Mail Sport suggest that West Ham are willing to pay a Championship record to sign Troy Parrott, a mark that currently stands at £17.5million. It is said that Porto are viewed as their main competitor for for his signature as things stand.

A move to the Championship would be an interesting choice for Troy Parrott, even if West Ham are considered as heavy favourites for promotion to the Premier League.
The Dubliner previously struggled for large periods of his loan moves in the EFL, having mixed spells at the likes of Millwall, MK Dons, and Preston North End. While he is now a much improved player, it would be strange to see him return to the second tier of English football.
A move to a big club on the continent would certainly be seen as a more exciting opportunity by Ireland supporters, with the mentioned interest from Porto an intriguing possibility.
