A man in his 60s has died following a road collision in Co Cavan.
He was the driver of a car that collided with a van on the N3 at Drummallaght, between Virginia and Cavan town this afternoon.
A woman in her 60s, who was a passenger in the car, was seriously injured and was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the van, a man in his 50s, was taken to Cavan General Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Gardaí say the road remains closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.
They are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and want to hear from any motorists who may have video footage from the area between 1pm and 2pm this afternoon to make it available to investigating officers.
