Afghanistan took a 2-0 series lead against Ireland at Stormont after Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s 71 helped them to a three-wicket victory.
The win gave the visitors a commanding advantage in the five-game one-day international series.
Ireland were greatly improved following defeat in the second game of the series on Friday – the first fell victim to the weather – but not sufficiently to avoid an eighth successive defeat to Afghanistan.
The hosts made 206 but three wickets each from Rashid Khan and AM Ghazanfar meant Ireland were kept within reach, and despite Gavin Hoey’s four wickets, Afghanistan chased them down.
