While the hunt for Joel Marshall’s attacker continues, EastEnders has hinted at fresh trouble for Amy Mitchell after DC Craig Ingram took a keen interest in the teenager. This Monday’s (10 August) episode saw the 17-year-old arrange a secret meeting with her friends as the Walford teens remained on edge amid the police’s investigation into Joel’s assault.
Amy, Avani, Denzel, Barney, Ricky, Will, Lily and Nugget have all been desperate to keep the authorities away from their involvement in the situation after carrying out a prank on Joel shortly before he was assaulted.

The group had intended the prank as payback for Joel’s past actions and have maintained that it was harmless. However, footage of what happened was eventually shown to Joel’s father Ross and his stepmother Vicki Fowler, leaving the teens increasingly worried that their own actions could put them under suspicion.
Since then, the friendship group have been trying to work out who could really be responsible for Joel’s attack while simultaneously attempting to keep their own involvement under wraps.
That became difficult during this Monday’s episode, when the group met on an isolated road to discuss the situation. With tensions running high and each teenager seemingly keeping something from the others, their conversation was soon interrupted by Craig.
The detective quickly singled out Amy for a private conversation, leaving her visibly unsettled. Their chat continued back on the Square, where Amy’s dad Jack Branning stepped in and challenged Craig over his interest in his daughter.
Craig insisted that he was simply checking on Amy’s welfare, but his actions soon appeared more calculated. Later, Amy and Craig spoke again, with the teen revealing Ricky’s bike lock had been used during her friends’ prank on Joel.
DC Ingram agreed to keep the information to himself, just as he had previously kept quiet about the video of the incident. He then gave Amy his personal phone number, telling her she could contact him if she had any further questions.

Amy is already under considerable pressure, with Denzel also behaving suspiciously after telling her they needed to discuss something. And things are only set to become more complicated.
Upcoming spoilers reveal that Lily Slater could hold another important piece of the puzzle. Lily had been developing a connection with Joel before his attack, and she appears increasingly uncomfortable with what she knows as she’s caught in the middle of a hushed conversation with Ricky.
“Jean tells Kat she’s worried Lily is withholding information about the assault, then Eve reveals she saw the girl heading into Joel’s house!” Later, however, Lily is set to reveal a new detail about the attack, which could have some major consequences for Amy.
As tensions reach breaking point, Amy and Jack get into a heated argument and Craig makes the most of the divide. “Amy looks vulnerable, so Craig seizes his chance,” the source added. “He knows there’s more to this whole thing than anyone is letting on, so he offers Amy a shoulder to cry on.”
The comfort eventually prompts Amy’s walls to crumble and she soon reveals a shocking truth – but what will it mean for her and the rest of her friends?
