Country fans were left disappointed this week after it was confirmed that the hotly anticipated January tour from The Three Amigos would not go ahead.

Now Jimmy Buckley has broken his silence and condemned the backlash he’s received in recent days, firmly stating that the fallout within the band is not of his making.

“I am being solely blamed for the split in The Three Amigos by the so-called keyboard warriors on social media sites, which is absolutely not the case,” he stated.

“When you and your family are subjected to vile comments and allegations online, unless you are made of stone, you couldn’t not be affected by it.

“I haven’t made any comment all week about the events surrounding the cancellation of The Amigos’ tour, and I certainly didn’t respond to any of the online comments, some of which were just horrific for me and my family…

“I’ve had a traumatic year with the loss of my dad in March. When my dad died, it made me take stock of my life. I’ve lost weight, I’ve worked on it… I’m out walking, I’m running, I’ve been disciplined on what I eat. I have taken a healthier path,” he told the Sunday World.

Speaking about the dispute among the other band members, Jimmy said he was ‘devastated’ when he realised the issue couldn’t be resolved.

“Nobody was more devastated than I was when I realised this issue, which I honestly believe was not of my making, couldn’t be resolved, in my opinion, due to the absence of professional courtesy.

“All three of us and our management tried everything possible to find a middle ground, but on this occasion, it just didn’t work out.

“I wanted The Three Amigos to continue at some stage down the line. I didn’t want The Amigos to end … the door was left open for this to be resolved, but in the meantime, I made a decision, in the interest of all, for me to step away until the atmosphere and the warmth that The Amigos was built on is restored.

“One of the false claims online is that this is about greed and money on my part. It wasn’t about the money because with the tour cancelled, I also have no work next January. My principles are more important to me. I just couldn’t get up on stage and go through the motions pretending that we are all fine together when we are not.

“I bear no ill will towards Robert and Patrick, despite all of this upheaval at the minute. I had great days and a lot of fun with both Robert and Patrick on the tours. They are two extremely talented guys, and I’ve always wished them the very best in their careers.”

Jimmy declined to comment further when approached by RSVP Live.

After the news of the Three Amigos Tour cancellation was confirmed earlier in the week, singers Patrick Feeney and Robert Mizzell took to social media to express their disappointment in statements.

Posting a statement on social media, Patrick wrote: “Hi Folks, to say we are gutted is an understatement following this week’s statement from J and C Promotions regarding the cancellation of the Three Amigos 2026/27 concert tour.

“I want to make it clear that this decision was not mine or Robert’s choice. We both genuinely wanted this tour to happen and tried every possible avenue to make it work, particularly for you, the people who have supported the Three Amigos and returned time and time again to see the show.

“You made the Three Amigos what it became, and that support is something we have never, and will never, take for granted.

“Neither Robert nor I agreed with the statement that was released regarding the reasons for the cancellation. From our perspective, there were no scheduling issues, and at all times we were fully committed and available to fulfil the 2026/27 tour. Unfortunately, not all parties were willing to make that same commitment.

“Before any public statement was issued, I asked that an independent mediator be brought in to try to find a way forward. I also proposed that, if this was ultimately to be the end of the Three Amigos, we should at least fulfil the dates already planned and make this a proper farewell tour, giving all of us the opportunity to thank you, the fans, for your incredible loyalty and support over the years.

“I also want to acknowledge the Three Amigos band, sound and lighting crews, and everyone behind the scenes who has worked tirelessly over the years to make these tours possible. My sincere thanks also go to Joe and Claire for all their efforts throughout the years.

“It is a great pity that things have come to this, and in my opinion, the situation could and should have been handled differently. Ultimately, however, the decision was taken out of my hands.

“Thank you all for the incredible support, the packed theatres, the laughter and, most importantly, the memories we have shared down through the years. As they say…..’the show must go on.’ Patrick.”

Robert Mizzell issued a nearly identical statement, adding: “It is a great pity that things have come to this, and in my opinion, the situation could and should have been handled differently. Ultimately, however, the decision was taken out of my hands.”

When RSVP Country approached the band for comment, JandC Promotions, who were managing the tour, told the publication: “It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of The Three Amigos Nationwide Tour 2026/27.

“This decision, which has come about as a result of scheduling issues, has not been made lightly, and we sincerely apologise to everyone who was looking forward to the tour.

“We would like to thank fans, venues, promoters, media, including radio and TV and everyone involved for their understanding and continued support.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused. Ticket refunds are available from point of purchase. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
