Coronation Street airs an excruciating moment next week as Brian Packham and Maggie Driscoll’s secret tumble between the sheets is discovered by the entire Driscoll clan.
Brian is blown away by a magical night with the Rovers landlady and sets out to win her heart. Is this a moment of madness, or the beginning of a beautiful new romance?

“It’s a hilarious moment!” reveals Peter Gunn, who plays Brian. “They’re found by the whole family, crawling down the stairs. Maggie is behind Brian in her pyjamas and her hair all skew-whiff. The pretence is that it’s perfectly normal and Brian’s just delivering the papers…”
However, this rendezvous is more than just the paper boy doing his rounds! The entire family is agape at Maggie and Brian’s dishevelled state – no one saw this attraction coming.
Brian is immediately smitten by forthright Maggie and approaches Eva Price for advice about how best to impress her mother-in-law. Eva knows Maggie is a woman who expects the five-star experience, and gives Brian some musical pointers to make her swoon.
“Maggie thinks that a Rod Stewart song is written about her!” explains Peter. “Eva suggests Brian gets some Rod Stewart tickets. But that is out of his league! He also asks Roy for some help…”
After collecting advice from the residents of the Street, optimistic Brian shows up at the pub with a bunch of flowers. But unfortunately, he walks in on Maggie downplaying their night of passion, calling it underwhelming, and denying any chance of a repeat performance.

Poor Brian is gutted by Maggie’s admission, convinced that their night together was something special. So when Maggie calls by The Kabin to apologise, will she confess that she was putting on a front for Eva? Or is this really it for Brian’s chances?
“Brian and Maggie would be a great pairing,” teases Peter. “I think they could have a future together, because they’re an interesting fit. There’s mileage to be had, but who knows?”
As the week goes on, Maggie continues to avoid Brian, and Glenda finds her lurking in the hallway. But is this awkwardness a sign that Maggie wants shot of Brian, or is she hiding her true feelings?
