U.S. industrial production increased again in July, according to data published by the Federal Reserve.

Production rose by 0.2% last month, a downshift from revised levels in June. Analysts polled by The Wall Street Journal expected a 0.4% increase.

Manufacturing output rose 0.2% after climbing a revised 0.3% in June. Production of durable goods was up 0.7% while nondurable production fell 0.4%. Excluding motor vehicles and parts, overall manufacturing output was up 0.4%. Output from utilities jumped 0.5%, and the index for mining output rose 0.2%.

Industrial capacity utilization edged up to 76.3% in July, a tick below estimates and 3.1 percentage points below its long-run average, though slightly higher than revised levels from the past three months.
