Sinn Féin has said that party MP John Finucane will not be representing Daniel Kinahan in his upcoming trial.
Mr Finucane is a solicitor and represents clients through his company Finucane Toner.
He represented Mr Kinahan in a previous legal matter.
A spokesperson for Sinn Féin confirmed that the MP would not be representing Mr Kinahan in the trial.
He added that it was a matter of public record that Mr Finucane had previously done some legal work for the alleged crime boss.
Mr Kinahan was not legally represented in court on 9 August when he made his first appearance back in Ireland after being extradited from Dubai.
During a brief hearing at the Special Criminal Court before a panel of three judges, he was charged with directing the activities of a criminal organisation between 18 October 2015 and 6 April 2017 .
Mr Kinahan told the court he “didn’t have time to arrange anything” but would seek legal representation later.
Following the charge, he was remanded in custody and taken to Portlaoise Prison.
