Healy finishes ninth in 1,500m Diamond League race

Ireland’s Sarah Healy finished ninth in the 1,500 metres event at the Silesa Diamond League meeting in Chorzów, Poland.

Healy came home in 3:57.42, a season’s best time, and just 0.27 outside her fastest ever run at the distance.

Ethiopia’s Tsige Duguma won the race in 3:55.06 ahead of Australia’s Jessica Hull 0.14 back and Kenya’s Dorcus Ewoi in third.

It was just a week on from from the European Championship event in which Healy was fifth in 4:10.76.

Healy had already come agonisingly close to a medal at the Championships, finishing fourth in the 5,000m final in Birmingham.
