ITV’s highly-anticipated new police drama The Blame, which stars Michelle Keegan as DI Emma Crane, has released a brand-new full-length trailer, also revealing that it’s “coming soon” to our screens.
The new footage shows Keegan’s character at the forefront of investigating the case of a missing 16-year-old girl, which also forces her to reflect on the team that she’s working alongside.
The official synopsis of the new drama, which is based on the novel by Charlotte Langley and has been written for television by Emmy-nominee Megan Gallagher, states that DI Crane and her colleague DI Tom Radley (played by Douglas Booth) will “dig deeper” into the mystery and “tragic death” which sends “shockwaves” through the local town.

The Blame’s new trailer also reveals Ian Hart as DCI Kenneth Walker, who appears to be a superior in the police station, and Matilda Freeman (How to Get to Heaven from Belfast) as Sophie, the teenage figure skater whose disappearance is at the centre of the case.
Nathan Mensah also stars as DC Lewis Brimah, and Line of Duty’s Nigel Boyle will play digital forensic technician Neil Shergill, according to new character descriptions.
Joe Armstrong (Gentleman Jack) is also part of the cast as ice-skating coach Kyle Frasier, and additional members of the the police team in The Blame – which ITV promises has “complex characters, unexpected twists and a riveting mystery” – will be played by Gavin Spokes (Slow Horses), Josh Bolt (Last Tango in Halifax), and Ceallach Spellman (Cheaters).
ITV’s director of drama, Polly Hill, has previously described The Blame as “a brilliant new crime thriller full of surprising twists”, also going on to hail the show’s writer as “wonderful and clever”, before concluding that the series will be “an unmissable drama”.

Nicola Shindler of Quay Street Productions, along with fellow executive producer Richard Fee, also said that they were “delighted” to be working with the “exceptional” writer Megan again, who with The Blame has “written a compelling series taking viewers on a twisty journey…”
“We are also thrilled at the brilliant cast led by Michelle and Douglas, who will keep viewers on the edge of their seats,” they added.
The Blame has been billed as one of ITV’s autumn dramas and will arrive in September, but an exact release date has not yet been announced.
According to the new trailer though, we shouldn’t have long to wait…
