Two-time All-Ireland SHC winner Lynam dies aged 100

Jimmy Lynam, a two-time All-Ireland hurling winner with Cork, has died aged 100.

Lynam was the oldest surviving Cork All-Ireland hurling medal winner.

A highly decorated player with his clubs Glen Rovers and St Nick’s, he was a multiple senior county medal winner in hurling and football, and a Harty Cup winner with the North Monastery school.

He lifted the Liam MacCarthy Cup with the Rebels in 1952 and ’53, sharing great success alongside another Glen Rovers man Christy Ring.

Glen Rovers posted on social media platform X: “We extend our sincere sympathy to the family of club legend Jimmy Lynam RIP who has passed away.

“Jimmy gave a lifetime of service to our clubs Glen Rovers and St Nicks on and off the field. He was an AlI-Ireland senior (championship) winner with Cork and a friend to us all.”
