Glenda Gilson and Rob McNaughton have been happily married for 12 years and are still head over heels for each other.
The duo, who are parents to sons Danny and Bobby, are as loved up as ever, but how did the pair come to be together? Well, it’s all very cute, really!
Recalling how she and her darling hubby first met in an interview with EVOKE during her 2020 stint on Dancing With The Stars, Glenda told how Rob took a huge gamble by jumping on a plane to win her over!
While she enthused that she ‘always fancied him’, the broadcaster also admitted: ‘I really played him along for a while.’
How they met

Glenda recounted how she came to know Rob, saying: ‘We knew each other a long time. He was in school at King’s Hospital in the same year as my brother.
‘Rob was very easy on the eye, so he was someone that I always spotted from a young age, and then I suppose we had the same friends and we spent years kind of meeting and kissing, and you know that was it, and then eventually we got together, and the rest is history,’ is the short version of their love story.
Discussing how they found it floating in and out of each other’s lives romantically over the years, she explained: ‘Fine, all good because we were pals, so we always hung out anyway.’

‘Not like best of friends, but we knew people; we had people in common, so we were always kind of in a group together. So it wasn’t awkward or anything like that.’
Thinking back to when they first started dating, Glenda said: ‘It would have been about eleven years ago now at this stage.’
Their first date
As for their first date, it was an unconventional one, as she laughed: ‘He followed me to Spain.’
‘I met him in Lillies, and I said I was going to Spain the next day and then he said he was going to Spain the next day for a meeting, but he wasn’t; he just came after me,’ Glenda said of the grafting Rob put in.

The former Xposé host has fond memories of the trip, but it didn’t secure their relationship. ‘We spent a few days in Spain together, but we still weren’t going out after that; it took another while after that. God, I really played him along for a while, but anyway,’ she said.
‘I always fancied him, as I said, he was a good-looking guy so I always had that little flutter in my heart for Rob as I still do today,’ the model mum-of-two was chuffed to report.’
Tying the knot

Glenda and Rob married in 2014 when they said ‘I do’ in a lavish ceremony in Co Clare.
Glenda wore an ivory Vera Wang dress with a sweetheart-shaped bodice and layers of silk that looked every inch the fairytale gown.
It was an overcast day with heavy rain, but that wasn’t going to spoil the love bubble for the couple who clearly thought ahead by bringing wedding-appropriate umbrellas.

2026 marks Glenda and Rob’s 12th anniversary, and the couple is as loved-up as ever.
Sharing snippets of their special day on August 29, 2026, she wrote: ‘This day, 12 years ago, Rob was lucky enough to marry me. Happy Anniversary, Robbo; here’s to many more.’
