An Ardara native has won the €250,000 first prize in the Donegal GAA fundraising draw.
Anne Duffin, who now lives in Ballina, County Mayo, was confirmed as the owner of the winning ticket at a gala event tonight in Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey.
MC Noel Cunningham attempted to call Ms Duffin with the good news during the live draw, which took place at 9pm, but there was no pickup. However, he later confirmed she was born and reared in Ardara, therefore the money was ‘staying in Donegal.’
Four €1,000 prize winners were also revealed: Brendan O’Neill, Meath; Anne Bradley, Buncrana; Joseph Carlin, Buncrana and Mark McDowd, Letterkenny.
The proceeds of the bumper draw will go towards the building of a new state-of-the-art gym at the Donegal GAA Training Centre in Convoy.
The proposed new facility will provide dedicated strength, conditioning and recovery space to meet the increasing demand, supporting players from underage level through to inter-county competition.
The wider development plan also includes year-round indoor training space, improved coaching and skills facilities, additional floodlighting, and sustainable pitch maintenance technology.
