Andy Boyle has announced his retirement from football with immediate effect after injuries cut short his stint with Waterford. Boyle (34) was capped once by Ireland under Martin O’Neill and will be best remembered for his integral role in Stephen Kenny’s golden era at Dundalk.
The centre half started his senior career with UCD before moving onto Shelbourne but Kenny spotted potential and swooped for the Dubliner when he took over in Louth ahead of the 2013 campaign.
