A scuffle broke out between protestors and Gardaí in Dublin on Monday as the Deputy Secretary General of NATO visited the capital.
Members of Anti Imperialist Action Ireland (AIA) protested outside the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA) at around lunchtime.
They held signs saying “boots off Irish soil” and “no to NATO” as Deputy Secretary General of NATO Radmila Shekerinska was due to speak at an event in the building.
The group publicised the protest on social media, sharing a photo of a soldier holding a rifle with an Irish flag on its hat.

On Sunday, it wrote: “Join the anti-NATO protest! Tomorrow, Monday 31st, at 2.30 pm, the Institute of International and European Affairs will host Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Radmila Shekerinska.
“Alongside European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas and British politician David Milliband, Shekerinska will attend informal meetings on defence and foreign affairs in Wicklow this week.”
The group also shared a video last Saturday of two people in dark clothing, spray painting a door in red writing with the words “No to Nato”.
It captioned the clip: “Yesterday evening, members of Anti Imperialist Action spray-painted the entrance of the IIEA building in Dublin that is to host the NATO Deputy Secretary General on Monday.
“The IIEA, is a pro-EU thinktank that heavily promotes NATO and militarisation.”

Ms Shekerinska is in Ireland for two days to take part in the public discussion and attend an informal meeting of EU defence ministers in Wicklow.
The discussion at the IIEA was in conversation with the think tank’s director general, Dr Orlaigh Quinn.
In an email outlining the event, she wrote: “I will be chairing the discussion, and I am very much looking forward to hearing Ms Shekerinska’s valuable insights on policy making, consensus building and transatlantic relations.”
