Republic of Ireland international Andrew Omobamidele has completed a surprise loan move from Strasbourg to Belgian side Anderlecht.
The 24-year-old defender had captained the French side as recently as their 2-1 victory over Lens on 29 August.
But Omobamidele will now spend the coming season in the Belgian capital where European football is on offer.
Anderlecht are in the Europa League after a comfortable 6-0 aggregate victory over Kairat in the play-offs.
They came fourth in the Belgian Pro League last season, 24 points off Club Brugge in first.
Ireland team-mate Josh Cullen, now of Burnley, previously played for Anderlecht for two seasons between 2020 and 2022.
Omobamidele made 54 appearances in all competitions for Strasbourg after joining from Nottingham Forest in January 2025, scoring one goal.
That included 12 games in the side’s run to the Conference League semi-finals last season.
