Cork’s Aaron Hill has advanced to the quarter-finals of the British Open after victories over Chinese pair Wang Xinbo and Zhengyi Fan on Thursday.
Jak Jones awaits in Friday’s last-eight encounter after the Welshman defeated Latvia’s Artemijs Zizins.
Wang was first up for Irishman Hill in Round 3 and breaks of 61 and 85 gave him the perfect start. Wang took two of the next three frames to get back within one, but a break of 63 saw Hill into the evening session.
Zhengyi had no answer to Hill though as breaks of 60, 80, 85 and a final 110 secured a whitewash 4-0 win.
