Rob Reiner has been posthumously honoured with an Emmy Award for his guest appearance in the series The Bear.
The Spinal Tap director, 78, and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were found dead from apparent stab wounds in their home in Los Angeles last December.
Their son Nick, 32, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty.
On Sunday night in the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, Reiner was announced as one of the winners at the ceremony formerly known as the Creative Arts Emmys.
He won the award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series after playing Albert Schnurr on a 2025 episode of The Bear.
Following the announcement of his win, presenter Wendi McLendon-Covey told the audience it was “appropriate to stand for this one”.
“I know we all wish Rob could be here tonight to share in the celebration; I’m honoured to accept this Emmy on his behalf,” she said.
The comedy-drama series The Bear stars Jeremy Allen White as Carmy Berzatto, an award-winning chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago to manage the chaotic kitchen at his recently deceased brother’s Italian beef sandwich shop.
Reiner’s posthumous win came 48 years after he won an Emmy for his role on All in the Family in 1978.
His win on Sunday broke the record for the longest gap between acting wins in Emmy history.
Reiner’s father, Carl Reiner, previously held the record after winning the same category in 1995 for his role in Mad About You, 37 years after he first won for Caesar’s Hour.
The Creative Arts weekend, which was held ahead of the Primetime Emmys on 14 September, saw more than 100 awards handed out over two nights.
Other winners at the awards included Shailene Woodley, who won her first Emmy for her role in the post-apocalyptic thriller series Paradise.

The 34-year-old actress won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for playing the character Annie Clay.
Stranger Things actor David Harbour, 51, also won his first Emmy, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, for playing Floyd Smernitch in DTF St Louis.

The Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series prize was awarded to Ernest Harden Jr for The Pitt while Harbour’s DTF St Louis co-star Linda Cardellini won the corresponding Best Supporting Actress award.
Betty Gilpin won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for playing Sarah Westcott Warren in Widow’s Bay.
Apple TV’s comedy-horror Widow’s Bay led the winners at the weekend with eight awards.

It was followed by DTF St Louis with six wins while The Pitt won four Emmys.
Palm Royale and Margo’s Got Money Troubles both won three awards.
This year marks the first that the awards for Supporting Actor and Actress in a Limited Series or Movie were announced during the Creative Arts Emmys ceremonies instead of the main telecast.

In July, the Television Academy announced both categories, along with several others, would be moved from the main broadcast show due to the “limited time available within a three-hour broadcast”.
The Primetime Emmys ceremony, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on 14 September.
