EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – It’s not often a piece of Beatles history has an Evansville connection, but it turns out one has surfaced after 62 years.
Dale Roberts has a YouTube channel with stories about Liverpool, and his most recent episode shares the story of a lost George Harrison interview that originally aired on WJPS in Evansville.

The interview was on February 17, 1964, the day after The Beatles’ second performance on the Ed Sullivan show.
George was speaking by phone from Florida. He was 20 years old.

The interview was found on a record that was in some memorabilia belonging to George’s sister, Louise, who lived in Benton, Illinois.
Her friend, Warren Batts, restored the quality, and the six minute interview was recently played inside George’s childhood home in Liverpool.
It’s the same home where the Beatles sometimes held rehearsals, and tours are now given to the public.
You can hear the interview and more about how it was discovered in Roberts’ video at the top of this story.
