Coronation Street’s Kit Green spirals deeper into despair next week, as he hits the bottle and brings a random woman back to the flat.
The detective is clearly struggling as he continues to hide his cancer diagnosis from his loved ones, while being consumed by guilt following his secret one-night stand with Bethany Platt. But how long before Kit cracks under the pressure?

“Bethany and Kit both think sleeping together was a really big mistake,” explains Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany. “They’ve been through a lot since Sarah went to prison, and have had to pick up the slack with looking after Harry.
“Kit is spiraling and acting suspiciously, but Bethany just puts it down to everything that’s happened – she has no idea he’s got cancer.”
Having agreed to put their illicit liaison behind them, Kit and Bethany are beyond awkward around each other as they continue to live in the same flat.
Desperate to escape his troubles, Kit is knocking back the booze and throwing himself at other women. Only Todd Grimshaw knows that he’s battling breast cancer, and Kit remains determined to soldier on without his family’s support.
But his erratic behaviour is an increasing cause for concern for those around him. When Kit brings a random woman back to the flat, Bethany is far from impressed as she catches them in a steamy clinch – though it does give her a way to appease her own guilt for her indiscretion with her mum’s ex…

“Bethany visits Sarah in prison and tells her that Kit is dating again,” Lucy tells us. “The ideal situation for Bethany is for her mum to forget about Kit and focus on herself and getting out of prison. Because if Sarah does get out and ends up back with Kit, that will make it worse for Bethany.
“If Sarah knows Kit is seeing other women, she might move on herself – so Bethany doesn’t ever have to face the fact she’s actually slept with him!”

Meanwhile, Kit is pushed closer to a meltdown when he loses it at work. As Lisa Connor-Swain demands an update on a case Kit’s trying to crack, he snaps at his colleague, who then shares her worries with Bernie Winter-Alahan.
After getting into a brawl with a suspect, a black-eyed Kit joins his family for a meal, where Bernie discusses her upcoming test to see if she’s inherited the cancer gene from her late mum’s side.
Will Kit open up about his secret struggle and let his family help him?
