Emmerdale fans see Charity Dingle’s grim outlook in prison descend to new lows next week, when she’s left traumatised and placed in segregation. While the isolated landlady suffers a PTSD attack, on the outside, distraught Sarah Sugden breaks down and confesses everything to her husband Jacob.
With the pressure piling up, will Sarah soften and change her mind to set Charity free?

“Charity has survived so much, but this is the depths of hell,” declares our Emmerdale insider. “A full and uncomfortable body search pushes Charity towards a breakdown, then she is forced to suffer alone with only her distressing thoughts for company.”
Days blur into one as Charity resigns herself to a life sentence locked up inside for murder, but every hour is getting worse. When the prison goes into lockdown, white powder is discovered in Charity’s cell, putting her in the frame for drug smuggling…
Helpless Charity is forced to endure a full body search to prove her innocence, which leaves her humiliated and traumatised.
Unable to cope, Charity suffers a panic attack, brought on by her PTSD and the guards’ response is to lock her up in isolation!
“In segregation, Charity feels even more hopeless,” explains our source. “Her dark thoughts rattle around her empty cell as she pictures the rest of her life behind bars and her beloved granddaughter responsible…”

Back in the village, increasingly desperate Mackenzie Boyd begs Serena Sugden to help him get Charity out, but despite putting pressure on her, she won’t risk her own freedom.
Knowing Sarah is the key to Charity’s release, Chas Dingle demands a family meeting and with Mackenzie, puts pressure on Sarah to withdraw her statement.
Mack piles on the threats, promising to tell Jacob everything unless she speaks up. His revelations will destroy her life – he plans to tell Jacob not just Sarah’s role in Dr Todd’s death, but Leyla’s parentage too!
Protective Cain Dingle clashes with Mackenzie over his aggressive threats, but soon Sarah begins to realise Jacob needs to know the truth, before he hears it from someone else…

“Leyla’s parentage is almost common knowledge at this point,” points out our spy. “Jacob will find out sooner or later, and Sarah would rather it came from her than as village gossip or hearing Mackenzie blurt it out in anger!”
Agonising over her decision, Sarah sits her husband down and confesses everything from the last few weeks.
In that moment, her every word turns Jacob’s world upside down. How will he react to his wife’s killer confession? And will he be able to accept that Leyla is not biologically his child?
