Amazon has started recruiting for 200 new jobs at its operation sites in Dublin and announced an increase in minimum starting pay, RTÉ reported today.
The online retailer is hiring for roles in its main distribution warehouse in Baldonnel – which currently employs 700 people – in addition to two delivery stations in Rathcoole and Ballycoolin.
Amazon first opened its Baldonnel site in 2022, creating 500 jobs.
Currently, Amazon employs almost 6,500 people in Ireland.
Last October, as part of global redundancies, Amazon axed around 150 jobs in Ireland, and in January this year a further 350 jobs were under threat at Amazon Web Services as part of global restructuring.
The Seattle-founded retailer announced that minimum starting pay for Irish workers is rising to €17.10 on 27 September – an increase of €0.65 per hour.
Commenting on the pay increase, Amazon’s regional director for logistics in the UK and Ireland, Darragh Kelly, said, “Our frontline employees are at the heart of everything we do, and this pay increase reflects our continued commitment to investing in the people who make Amazon work for customers every day.
“We’re proud that starting pay in Ireland has increased by approximately 27% since 2022.”
