Lidl Ireland has officially reopened its newly redeveloped Pottery Road store in Dún Laoghaire following an €8 million investment in the site.
The project included an extension and refurbishment of the existing store, creating a 1,600 sq.m sales floor equipped with self-checkouts, a customer restroom, and an in-store bakery.
Dublin ladies’ Gaelic football captain Carla Rowe cut the ribbon, welcoming the first ten shoppers through the doors to receive €20 Lidl gift vouchers to redeem in-store.
The store’s team also presented a €1,000 donation in Lidl vouchers to the NRH Foundation, which supports the National Rehabilitation Hospital in providing treatment and rehabilitation services for patients who have suffered complex life-altering illnesses or injuries.
The site also places a strong focus on energy efficiency, achieving an A-energy rating and installing rooftop solar PV panels and electric vehicle charging points in the customer car park.
‘Premium Shopping Experience’
Speaking at the ribbon-cutting this morning, Dublin LGFA captain Carla Rowe said the store brings “a whole new shopping experience” to the people of Dún Laoghaire, adding that local shoppers would “love the new look store”.
Regional managing director at Lidl Ireland, Niall Murray, said “I’m pleased that we’ve been able to deliver such a significant transformation and provide our customers with a premium shopping experience.”
Additionally, he thanked the people of Dun Laoghaire “for their continued patience and support whilst works were ongoing.”
The expanded store secures 24 new permanent jobs for the local area and is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 10pm and Sunday from 9am to 9pm.
