Six time All Ireland winning Limerick hurling manager John Kiely will remain at the helm for at least another season.
Following a trophyless campaign in 2025 Kiely led his team to a clean sweep last season and brought the Liam MacCarthy Cup back to shannonside for the first time since 2023.
Kiely’s backroom team is yet to be revealed but it will be hoped that his longtime coach Paul Kinnerk remains in his role for 2027.
The Galbally man will be ratified by the County Board in October.
Kiely will be facing into his 11th season as manager, across the eleven years he has been key in transforming Limerick hurling.
He oversaw Limerick’s first All Ireland win in forty-five years back in 2018 before guiding his team to a famous four-in-a-row between 2020 and 2023.
The 54-year-old also enjoyed a historic run which saw Limerick earn six Munster titles in a row between 2019 and 2024 before reclaiming the Mick Mackey Cup last season with victory over Cork in the decider at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
Limerick GAA have released the following statement.
“Limerick GAA can confirm that Limerick Senior Hurling Manager John Kiely is to continue in his role for the 2027 season with an option to extend for a further season thereafter. The remainder of his management and backroom team will be confirmed in due course. The extension is subject to ratification by delegates at the October meeting of the Limerick County Board.
Commenting on the news Limerick GAA Chairman Seamus Mc Namara said “We are delighted that John is set to continue on in his role as Limerick Senior Hurling Manager for at least another season. John, his management team and players have brought so much positivity to the county and we are delighted that he will remain at the helm for 2027.”
