The Main Street of Ardmore in Co Waterford.

An Coimisiún Pleanála has refused permission for Waterford City and County Council to compulsorily purchase a property on Ardmore’s Main Street, ruling that the site does not meet the legal definition of dereliction.

The council had sought approval on 18 June this year to acquire the site, which sits in a prominent position on the northern side of the village’s main street. The property is a two-storey house at the end of a terrace, surrounded by a mix of residential and commercial uses. Its front elevation directly adjoins the public footpath, while an access lane along the western boundary leads to the rear garden and serves other properties.
