Cobh Ramblers swung a thrilling derby 3-2 at freshly crowned champions Cork City, who were reduced to 10 men just before the break.
Seani Maguire had put the hosts ahead in the 19th minute, but the game turned a minute before half-time when Fiacre Kelleher saw red for denying a goalscoring opportunity.
The Rams equalised eight minutes into the second period when goalkeeper Conor Brann palmed Jordan Adeyemi’s corner into his own net.
On the hour mark, Shane Griffin fired them ahead, and Anthony Adenopo sealed it in the 85th minute, with Maguire’s effort in stoppage time merely a consolation.
UCD are still second despite being held to a 2-2 draw by Athlone Town in Belfield.
The midlanders broke the deadlock with just three minutes on the clock through Evan O’Connor.
Hugh Smith, in the 45th minute, and then Charles Akinrintayo, 11 minutes into the second half turned it around for UCD. However, Patrick Ferry’s 76th-minute goal earned Athlone a share of the points.
Bray Wanderers are third, two points behind UCD, thanks to a 1-0 win in Kerry.
Tyreik Sammy’s sixth-minute strike proved the difference in Tralee.
Finn Harps enjoyed their first win under boss Patrick McEleney as they got past Wexford 3-1 in Ferrycarrig Park.
Harps remain bottom of the table, but this was a welcome morale boost for the Donegal side.
Tony McNamee put the visitors ahead in the 50th minute, with Jake Doyle nabbing a Wexford leveller a minute later.
Bernardo Monteiro restored Harps’ lead on 60 minutes, and Oran Brogan made it safe in the closing stages.
