It must be hard to know what to wear when meeting a President on a State visit… but you can rarely go wrong with an Irish designer!
And that’s what Taoiseach Micheál Martin’s wife Mary O’Shea opted to do on Saturday when she welcomed US President Donald Trump to our shores.
Mr Trump is in Ireland for a whirlwind two-day visit, which has already seen him meet Simon Harris and President Catherine Connolly.

Mary joined her husband outside Farmleigh House on Saturday morning to greet Mr Trump and looked very elegant in the process.
Coordinating with the men, Mary wore a navy dress with a caped sleeve and sparkling detail on the shoulder.
As it turns out, Mary’s dress is by Irish designer Louise Kennedy, who has a long history of dressing Irish public figures and was the designer President Connolly turned to for her inauguration outfit.

Mary’s midi is the Thea Embellished dress by Louise Kennedy, which was part of the 2022 collection.
While this exact style is no longer available, Louise Kennedy did make a similar style, the Zoelle Embellished Mini Cape-Effect Dress, which was priced at €1,495 in more recent years.

Mr Trump’s Ireland visit started with him being greeted by Ireland’s deputy premier Mr Harris at Dublin Airport before he met President Connolly at Áras an Uachtaráin in Phoenix Park.
An event will later be held at the residence of the US ambassador to Ireland, Edward Walsh, where Mr Trump will make a speech.
He will then travel to his golf resort in Doonbeg, Co Clare, which is hosting the Irish Open.
