Two young local talents have been selected to represent Ireland on the world stage this month after being selected to compete at World Skills Shanghai 2026.
Taking place from September 22nd to 27th, WorldSkills Shanghai will bring together more than 1,400 competitors from over 70 countries and regions across 64 different skill areas.
James Hunt from Virginia, Co. Cavan and Harry Green from Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan are two of 16 young Irish competitors selected to represent Team Ireland at the prestigious international competition.
James will compete in the Construction: Electrical Installations category while Harry will compete in the Additive Manufacturing CAD category.
Speaking to Northern Sound ahead of this month’s event, James shared the extent of work which has gone into preparing for the competition, saying he is “learning plenty” in the process:

Before heading to China, James and Harry will also be among the Irish talent showcased at WorldSkills Ireland 2026, which returns to RDS Simmonscourt from September 16th to 18th.
