Elderly woman in North Kerry has €35,000 stolen from her home by scammers purporting to be from her bank

Gardaí are appealing for people to be more vigilant of fraud after €35,000 was stolen from an elderly woman in her home in North Kerry.

On September 10th the woman received a call on WhatsApp from a male caller claiming to be  ‘Security Bank of Ireland’.

The caller told her that a hold had been placed on her account after an attempted transaction of €550 at Harvey Norman.

Garda Eilish Cronin is urging people to never give out sensitive personal information.
