A man in his 30s has died following a two-vehicle collision on the M4 at Enfield, Co Meath this afternoon.
The incident occurred at 2.30pm today at Junction 9 on the M4 westbound.
The man, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has since been removed to the local mortuary where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
A woman, also in her 30s, was brought to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The road remains closed this evening pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.
Any road users who were travelling on the M4 near Junction 9 at Enfield between 2pm and 3pm today and who may have camera footage including dash-cam, are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
