Two Donegal teenage soccer stars featured for the Republic of Ireland U16 side in a 2-1 defeat to France in Clairefontaine this morning.
Dungloe’s Charlie Bonner and Milford’s Jake Morgan both featured in the international friendly against a formidable French outfit.
Bonner, plays for the Finn Harps Academy, and was part of the matchday squad for Patrick McEleney’s 1st team against Longford Town at the beginning of August.
Former Keadue Rovers player Bonner has been capped at U15 level for Ireland, and played in international fixtures against Holland and Portugal.
Morgan, is a former Harps and Derry City player, who now plays for Coleraine FC.
Both players started this morning’s fixture, with Morgan playing the entire 90 minutes in what was a narrow 2-1 defeat.
Ireland had equalised through captain Ronan Keating, but France secured the winner in the second-half.
It was a big improvement on Tuesday’s fixture between the two teams, with France winning 4-0 comprehensively.

Morgan was an unused substitute in that clash on Tuesday, whilst Bonner again started, before he was withdrawn just after the hour mark.
The Ireland U16 team is managed by former Dundee United and Drogheda United player Graham Gartland.
