The organisers of the National Ploughing Championships have announced that the event will move to Co Kildare next year.

For the past five years, Screggan in Co Offaly has staged The Ploughing, however, Rathangan in Kildare will be the new host venue next year.

75,000 people attended the final day of the NPC in Screggan today, with 243,000 visitors through the gates across the three days of the event.

The total attendance for The Ploughing, which is Europe’s largest outdoor event, was up by around 18,000 on last year.
