Irish a capella act Ardú will appear on the new series of The Voice UK this Saturday for their blind audition.
The six-piece vocal act will be the first ever Irish group of its kind and the largest group ever to feature on the talent show, which sees entrants perform to a panel of judges, which this year includes will.i.am, Tom Jones, the McFly duo Tom Fletcher, and new addition Kelly Rowland.
Ardú consist of ensemble co-director Filip Klubička, Vicky Warwick, also ensemble co-director and a member of Anúna, Judith Lyons of Dulciana Vocal Ensemble, St. Patrick’s and Christ Church Cathedrals, The Lir and Anúna, Sorcha Dempsey of Anúna, Andy Dempsey (Billow Wood and Anúna), and Ryan Garnham of M’ANAM and Anúna.
They have previously Featured on BBC Radio Ulster, RTÉ lyric fm, where they were the winner of the 2018 of the Best Choir at the Choirs for Christmas competition, and RTÉ Radio 1.
The Voice UK is not the ensemble’s first television appearance. A past line-up of the group competed in the a cappella-reality competition Sing: Ultimate A Cappella on Sky One in 2017.
Ardú have represented Ireland in festivals and competitions across Europe, including Solala Festival Germany (Audience Award winners 2026), Tampere Vocal in Finland, the Edinburgh Fringe festival, vokal.total in Austria (Audience Award winners 2019) and mostly recently, Vocal Champs Germany, winning this year’s audience prize last Saturday.
The ensemble founded the Irish International A Cappella Festival, and have released three studio albums, Gravity (2018), LIVE (2020) and Songs from Here (2022).
They play The Whale Theatre, Co. Wicklow on 30 October and Púca Festival, Trim on 31 October 3.
