Smyths Toys has recalled a popular children’s toy sold in stores across Ireland over safety concerns. The toy retailer has urged customers to stop using it “immediately.”
A recall notice has been issued for a wooden game set which was sold in Smyths stores and online. The Wooden Cornhole Board with Bean Bags Set is being recalled over health and safety concerns.
According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), the product is being pulled from sale as the sand inside the bean bags may contain asbestos.

HSE Public Health advice is that there is a low risk to human health from these sand products based on current information, but asbestos is a banned substance across the EU.
Smyths has said that testing has shown that the sand-like material inside the toss bags may contain trace levels of asbestos. The company assured customers that the overall risk is low, and the manufacturer is recalling the affected items as a precaution.
