A rare sight for some in Bedford.
According to videos online, a shark was spotted near the Bedford Basin Yacht Club Friday evening.
Multiple reports say, experts confirmed it was a basking shark.
According to the government of Canada website, basking sharks are the second largest fish in the world, second only to the whale shark. It is often seen near the surface of the water in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick during the spring and summer months.
It was not the first marine animal to cause a stir and bring in crowds to the shores of Nova Scotia in recent weeks.
The first was an orca in the Canso Causeway in July, just two weeks before a beluga whale was spotted in the Bras d’Or Lake.
