Prince Harry turned a “tricky” morning with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet into an opportunity to teach his children about his charity work.
Harry, 42, revealed that Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, were dealing with the “Monday morning blues” before school according to a report HELLO! published on Monday, September 21.
“At breakfast this morning, they had a bit of Monday morning blues,” Harry said, per the report. “There’s always something like Sunday night blues or boarding school… when you’ve been away, or before you go to school.”
The Duke of Sussex decided to change the subject by explaining what he would be doing at the WellChild Awards later that day. “But at breakfast this morning, I decided, ‘You know what? You’re being a little bit tricky, so I’m going to tell you exactly what I’m doing tonight.’ And they were genuinely fascinated and asking all sorts of questions,” he said, the outlet reported.
Harry added that he and wife Meghan Markle want their two children to understand the importance of their work. “So, like with all of my work and their mum’s work as well, whatever we can do to try to instill some of that awareness, I think is absolutely crucial,” he said, the outlet reported.
Harry and Meghan, 45, recently returned to the U.K. with Archie and Lilibet after living in California. The family has been back in Britain since the end of August, and Harry said they have been settling into their new life with country walks and some classic British foods.
Per the report, Harry said beans on toast “hadn’t gone down very well” when his children tried it in California several years ago, but they have become fans of another British staple since the move.
“Is that a British thing? Because it’s always been in my life, and now the kids are eating Marmite on crumpets, which is big for me,” he said, the outlet reported.

Harry, who has served as a patron of WellChild since 2007, also reflected on how fatherhood has changed his perspective when meeting seriously ill children and their families.
“Once you become a parent, it does change everything,” he said, per HELLO!. “It’s not the fact that for all the years that I wasn’t a parent that meeting the kids didn’t matter as much, but you suddenly realise how grateful you are to have kids that aren’t sick.”
Those encounters have also helped the royal put everyday frustrations into perspective. “Of course, it’s all relative, but the inspiration that I get from these guys – not just the kids, but the parents themselves – it fills me up for a whole year,” Harry said, per the report.
