Emmerdale star Louise Jameson has revealed that she’ll be filming a bigger storyline for Mary Goskirk later this year.
The popular character is set for a major plot of her own – and Louise is currently in the early stages of doing research to prepare for what’s to come.

Louise shared the news with Digital Spy on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards 2026, but had been sworn to secrecy over the precise details.
“All I can tell you is that they’ve asked for a week’s holiday back at Christmas – so I’ve definitely got something coming up!” she teased.
“There’s a pretty dramatic year coming up, but I’m under strict instructions not to say any more.
“It wouldn’t have been what I’d have written for her at all, and I’m learning a lot through the little clues that they’ve given me. I’ve had to do some research on it, so watch this space!”
Late last year, Mary was upset when her daughter Rhona urged her to leave the family home – a secret tactic to protect her from the wrath of Celia Daniels and Ray Walters while April Windsor was in danger.

This meant that Mary could only get involved in supporting April and the rest of the family once the full truth about Celia and Ray’s crimes came to light.
Asked whether Mary can now rely on family support, Louise replied: “In a way, a story for one of us is a story for all of us.
“That’s what our family – our little bubble – represents. We’ve got three kids, Mary’s got a daughter and a son-in-law and I think that’s why she was so furious to be thrown out. I was thrown out of the house!
“She’s so busy controlling everything, so they didn’t want me anywhere near it. She just didn’t feel part of the unit any more, but all that’s changed and we’re all back friendly again. So it’s definitely going to be a family story.”
