Quay Street, Belmullet, Co. Mayo and formerly of Minnesota, U.S.A. – peacefully in the wonderful care of the doctors, nurses and staff of the Belmullet Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family on 23rd September 2026.
Predeceased by her loving husband Tom, parents Robert and Teresa Carey, brothers Bertie and Myles, brother-in-law Willie Lavelle and sister-in-law Kitty Carey (née McAndrew).
Bernie will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family, brother T.J. (Bangor Erris), sisters Deb Sweeney (Chicago, U.S.A.) and Goretti Lavelle (Ardoone, Belmullet), brother-in-law Pat Sweeney, sisters-in-law Mary Carey and Kathleen Carey, nieces and nephews, relatives, kind neighbours and many friends, young and old.

Bernie will lie in repose at McDonnell’s Funeral Home, Belmullet on Thursday evening from 5 o’clock until 7.30.
Funeral will arrive at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Belmullet on Friday afternoon for Funeral Mass at 1 o’clock followed by burial at Glencastle New Cemetery.
