Northern Ireland Railways to close a number of small stations on the line between Derry and Coleraine.

Limavady District Council expresses concern over a proposal by Northern Ireland Railways to close down all the small stations on the line between Derry and Coleraine. The threatened train stations are Limavady Junction, Castlerock, Downhill, Bellarena, Magilligan and Culmore. It is thought their closure would speed up services between Belfast and Derry by 15 to 20 minutes and attract more people to travel by rail.

The council wants to see the Limavady Junction station to remain open as it is a vital service for the town and surrounding district.
